Uncertainty
How are you feeling these days?
Frankly, I've been up and down.
Up when I'm coaching amazing professionals who are digging deep and learning so much about themselves. Up when I'm walking around the lovely Los Angeles Arboretum on my morning walks. Up when I make a meal for my family and they are grateful and happy.
Down when I watch too much news. Down when I feel that I have no control over what is happening in the world. Down when I see fellow human beings suffering.
So, I wanted to share a few of my current survival tips that help me get through the down's and have more up's.
#1 - Limit news intake. It's important that we know what's happening in our world, but "doom scrolling" does nothing but create anxiety, hopelessness and anger.
#2 - Create daily disciplines to keep mind, body and soul healthy. Despite how I'm feeling, I try to do some physical activity, read, meditate and hang out with people I love each day.
#3 - Do small acts of kindness. Have you ever just given the cashier a bright big smile - it seems to brighten their day. So simple and genuine. Or, find an opportunity to volunteer within your community - tutor kids, feed people, join a board.
#4 - Take actions to change what is bringing you down. Consider ways in which you can voice your opinions. Are you concerned about what is happening in your schools? Write or call your school board members. Are you concerned about the US' interventions overseas? Write or call your senators and congresspeople. These are small acts that help us feel our agency and let decision makers know how we feel.
You may or may not resonate with how I'm coping now, but I hope that you find ways for yourself to bring health, happiness and contentment to each day.
Thank you for being part of this community. Please reach out and let me know how you're doing [ [email protected] ]. Wishing you all the very best,
Molly
