Angkor Wat Cambodia

The Promise of Impermanence

May 30, 20251 min read

I was so fortunate to take a trip to SE Asia last month. The ancient temples were breathtaking, Angkor Wat in Cambodia (pictured) was built in the 12th century - almost 900 years ago. This structure is still standing. As I walked through the temple, I noticed how the crumbling walls and carvings are being lovingly secured and restored to the extent possible so that visitors like me can continue to visit this impressive piece of history.

All living beings and our creations crumble - we are impermanent. And this is a promise.

The promise that change is possible, indeed inevitable.

The knowledge that change is possible provides us with a genuine opportunity to create the next moment, the next endeavor, the next relationship in a way that aligns with our values and our purpose.

Are you living a life that aligns with your core values and your purpose?

I encourage you to challenge yourself - what are a few small ways you can begin to match your time and actions with your values and purpose?

Often, in coaching, our conversations take us here. These are difficult questions to tackle, but ultimately provide greater meaning and fulfillment to our beautifully fleeting lives!
